These are words: jalapeno-small hot pepper; ingredients-parts that go in a mixture; mixture- something made of different things put together; recipe-list of ingredients and directions put together to make something to eat or drink; dough- a mixture of flour, liquids and other things that are usually baked; knead-to mix and press dough together with hands.

The story this week is " A Piece of Home". Read every night. Test- Friday.

These are vocabulary words: journey- a long trip; treasure- money, jewels, or other things that are valuable; strange- not familiar; passport- a document given to a person to show what country the person is a citizen of; Russian- relating to Russia , its people , or their language.

Reading- The story is " The Butterfly Seeds". Read and study vocabulary every night. Vocabulary sentences due Wednesday. Quiz Tuesday on Lesson 19 Voc-lit.

This week we are reading " A Place Called Freedom". We will read the last Chapter in "The Family Under The Bridge". Quiz on ch. 9 is Thursday. Story test is Friday! Remember to read and study every night. Vocabulary sentences due Wednesday.

Monday- Thursday- Read and discuss the story " Molly the Brave and Me"; Review vocabulary words nightly. Read Ch. 4 in trade book if you have it. Write a sentence with each word it is due Wednesday! Voc-lit Booklet -Lesson 16-Test- Friday!

Our story this week is " Animal Camouflage". Please read and study the story nightly along with vocabulary. Also, starting this week your child will have open response questions on the test. It is a higher order thinking skills questions. I want to prepare your child for third grade!
