Mrs. Tucker's Counseling Page - PreK

Hello! Welcome to the Counselor's Website! My name is Veronica Tucker and this is my second year as the St. Andrew's Catholic School counselor. However, it's really my 11th year here as I attended St. Andrew's from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I then went to Nolan Catholic, the University of Notre Dame and then the University of San Diego. And I now find myself back where I started. I couldn't be happier to return to my roots as a Wildcat along with my children, Abby (2nd grade) and Luke (PK4). It is a joy to work with the students here and watch them grow as they learn about themselves, each other and their faith.

If you would like me to meet with your student, please contact me via e-mail (vtucker@standrewsch.org) or phone (817.924.8917 X2006).

Classroom Guidance Lesson - February

This month, we read How to Lose All Your Friends by Nancy Carlson. We discussed the things we would do to keep our friends and be a good friend. Then, we read A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue by Julia Cook.  We learned the "Tattle Rules" and the difference between reporting and tattling. We promised to remember all these things at school and at home.

Classroom Guidance Lesson - November

We read Swimmy by Leo Lionni. We learned that the only way Swimmy was able to save the school of fish was through cooperation. We talked about the times we have to cooperate --- at home, in school, in sports, etc. Then we did a cooperation coloring activity and we worked as a table to color a picture of Swimmy.

Preschool Classroom Visits - October

In some PreK classes, we read the Pumpkin Patch Parable and watched a video of The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. We talked about how in many ways we are all like pumpkins. We all grow up from something small, we are created especially by God, we all look different and we are all special. Then, we worked on our own version of a special pumpkin like Spookley.

Preschool Classroom Visits - September

September - We talked about different feelings, made lots of feeling faces, read How are You Peeling? and colored pictures of Pumpkins with Feelings.

Preschool Classroom Visits - August

In August, we talked about the role of the school counselor at St. Andrew's. We then talked about how we are different and the same. We learned about allergies and read Cody the Allergic Cow and colored our own versions of Cody and shared with them with our classmates.
