Tuesday, February 21, 2012 plan to eat out at Fiesta Mexican Restaurant (3233 Hemphill) for lunch or dinner. All Saint Andrew orders benefit our school! Dine in, carry out, or buy gift cards for future meals!

Book Fair Thank You

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at our Book Fair during Catholic Schools Week and to everyone who purchased books and/or donated to the One For Books program. A special thank you to Carrie Gernhauser for co-chairing the fair, coordinating volunteers, and decorating. We had a very successful Book Fair, and as you can see from the results below the students, classrooms, and library benefited from your generous support.

Cash profit from fair: $4,212.30.

Customer rewards earned: $2,702.38 (in Scholastic Dollars) Scholastic Dollars are used to purchase books for the library from Scholastic, Inc.

Book Donations to classrooms: 87 books

One for Books: $419.70—amount collected and used to purchase books for Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School in Fort Worth.

2012 Stephen Breen Spirit Games

Spirit Games are only a few days away! The 2012 Stephen Breen Spirit Games are going to be so fun that do you not want to miss out. $10 for a t-shirt, and your 2012 t-shirt is your ticket to participate in the activities.  Go online and register today: Spirit Games Online Registration. Register online, print your registration form and attach payment to take to your school. If payment is received at your school by Wednesday, February 22, your t-shirts will be delivered to your school. Or you can pick up a registration form in your school office.

Nest Collective Voluntarily Recalls Select Revolution Foods Jammy Sammy - Strawberry Jam & Peanut Butter Snack Size Sandwich Bars due to a labeling error (undeclared peanut on inner wrapper) 8150 sandwich bars - sold online and at retail, nationwide - have a mislabeled inner wrapper.  Consumers allergic to or who have a severe sensitivity to peanuts (or peanut butter) run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these individual bars. Click HERE to read more.

Michael Foods Recalls–Hard-Cooked Eggs Packed in Brine sold in 10 and 25 pound pails because of possible health risk. The hard-cooked eggs were for institutional use and are labeled under six brand names. The eggs were purchased by food distributors and manufacturers located in 34 states. The eggs were potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Click HERE to read more.

Boy Scout Troop 97 – To earn money for an upcoming BSA adventure the scouts are available for hire on weekends. The troop is offering yard maintenance and light handyman outdoor projects. We can rake leaves and remove those ugly dead bushes or small trees that have died due to the drought. Click HERE to view an informational flyer.

This Week

Ash Wednesday—February 22, 2012—NO Mass.
The faculty/staff Lenten Committee has prepared this week’s liturgy for the distribution of ashes in the church from 2:00 to 3:00pm. Parents are, as always, invited to the service; the designated seating area for parents is upstairs in the choir loft, unless a special circumstance requires you to sit downstairs.

The School Office will be closed from 8:15 am–9:00 am for a school assembly in the gym. Students arriving at school during this time will need to go directly to the gym. The school office will also be closed during the Ash Wednesday prayer service from 2:00 to 3:00pm. If an early dismissal is needed for your child, please make arrangements prior to the service.

Spring Out of Uniform Pictures—Friday, February 24 in the School Gym—Glamourcraft School Photography will be taking Spring Pictures. Informational flyers were given to students on Monday with tips on how to look your best on portrait day. Extra copies are in the school office. Proofs will be delivered to students in approximately two weeks. No money is due on picture day. All students will be photographed. Please follow school policy for an out of uniform day.

Uniform Resale – Friday, February 24, 2012–2:00–4:00pm in the school gym. Come check out our resale items!

Next Week

The Stephen Breen Wildcat Challenge Basketball Tournament for sixth and seventh grade students in the diocese begins Monday, February 27, 2012 and continues through Saturday, March 10, 2012. Come out to enjoy the games, and some great fun among families in our diocese.

Mass Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 9:00 am in the church. Mrs. Kershaw’s class is preparing this week’s mass. Please remember to send items for the offertory for Social Ministry. Parents are, as always, invited to mass; the designated seating area for parents is upstairs in the choir loft, unless a special circumstance requires you to sit downstairs. 

Kindergarten Screening of our PK-4 students will take place on Friday, March 2, 2012.  There will be no Pre-K 4 classes on March 2, 2012. This will not affect Pre-K 3 classes.  Please check your appointment time, if you cannot make your screening appointment please contact the school office ASAP.

Spirit Day & 7th & 8th grade Service Hours Due Friday, March 2, 2012.

Knitting Workshop – Saturday, March 10, 2012 (Parish Hall 1:00 pm) This workshop is offered for anyone who wants to learn to knit, needs a refresher or wants to move to the next level. We welcome children and adults; males and females. No cost. Please click HERE for an informational flyer.

Would you be willing to sell items on consignment for Social Ministry? We often get donated items that we can sell to make money for our food pantry.
