Virtues in Practice

Saint Andrew Catholic School is beginning year two of the Virtues in Practice program created by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecelia, Nashville, TN for children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade to grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues.

This 3-year program focuses on the Theological Virtues, faith, hope, and charity.  Children not only study and grow in virtues but experience virtues as a part of their everyday lives. The program covers 27 virtues over a three-year cycle, with 81 saints held up as models of the virtues.

Households and Faith Families

At Saint Andrew Catholic School we are implementing Households within our grade-level (K-8) homeroom classes.  Time has been built into the schedule every Friday afternoon to allow students, along with their homeroom teachers, to come together as a “household” to pray, participate in Adoration and quarterly Households Mass, to read and discuss the Gospel that they will hear when they attend Mass on Sunday with their families, and to participate in other faith-enriching opportunities as a household community.

Marian Statue Program

The Spiritual Life Committee at Saint Andrew Catholic School offers two blessed statues to its families:  A statue of Rosa Mystica and an Immaculate Heart of Mary Statue. Each week (from Wednesday afternoon to the following Wednesday morning) two families will have the opportunity to take these statues home and use them as a source of inspiration, prayer and reflection. The tote bag containing the statue will also have suggested prayers. This special tradition will hopefully be one full of meaning and faith for each of you.

Month of the Holy Souls

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”

Each year during the month of November, the Church offers us the opportunity to remember in a special way our deceased relatives and friends. We do this with a firm faith in our future reunion with them forever.

Saint Andrew Catholic School faculty & students offer prayers for the deceased loved ones of our alumni, benefactors, friends and family members. We open an online form on this page for you to indicate the names of your beloved deceased. We pray for the Holy Souls of Purgatory during weekly school Masses, morning prayers, and while attending adoration throughout the month of November.
